New York City is experiencing a slow retail recovery this year, according to Center for an Urban Future's Executive Director Jonathan Bowles. 'I think a lot of New Yorkers aren't going to be too disappointed in the slow recovery of big-chain retail, but I think there are broader concerns here about retail in New York City,' Bowles told the New York Business Journal. 'A lot of these chains provide an important foothold in the labor market for hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers." His New York City-based think tank recently released its 15 th annual 'State of the Chains' report.
